about pat

Teaching credentials from McGill University launched Pat into what would become a life-long teaching career.  She has been an early childhood educator and primary teacher, first in Montreal and then in Toronto.  Pat has taught in the public school system,  at private schools, childcare centres, nursery schools, and in school-age enrichment programs.  After leaving the formal teaching path, Pat turned her interest to sharing her knowledge and enthusiasm with teachers through staff development workshops and conference presentations for the Toronto Catholic District School Board, York Regional School Board, and Umbrella Central Day Care Annual Conference, among others.

Dance and theatre have been vital interests and elements of Pat’s life since childhood.  After studying Highland dance, she went on to compete and perform across Canada and the US., then certified as a teacher, and is currently an Associate Member of both the BATD (British Assn. of Teachers of Dance) and SDTA (Scottish Dance Teachers Alliance).  Pat is in her ... umpteenth year as an actor and director in regional, summer, and dinner theatre productions.  She has extensive experience teaching drama and dance classes for preschoolers, teens, adults, and seniors, and regularly presents workshops nationally and internationally, where she shares her love of performing and enjoys learning from her students.

Any kind of creative pursuit - writing, doodling, problem-solving, making art of various kinds – is what makes life fun and gets Pat excited each and every day.  “Creativity isn’t just art ... it’s the very essence of being human”  is her true belief!
